Day 17 of 21 | Golf Follow Through, part 1

We've done a lot of work so far on the release of the club. Equally important is now the follow through, particularly how you move your right shoulder under, through and up.

I can usually tell when a golfer slices the ball by watching the follow-through. I don't even need to see the flight of the ball: if a golfer finishes with their right shoulder higher than their left then 9 times out of 10, he will slice the ball. Below are some pictures that show you what your right shoulder should ideally be doing in the follow-through:

Day 16 of 21 | Perfect Golf Swing Drills (Golf Swing Release, final part): Wrist Touching Drill

Today is the final day of working on the golf swing release. This drill will add the final piece to your release.

Day 16 Task

Use your 8-iron and tee up a ball as normal.

Now setup to this ball as if you're going to hit a straight shot. Don't exaggerate your setup for this drill.

From your setup position simply swing back so your club is close to parallel with the ground, as is shown in picture 1, and STOP.

Now, check that your club is in a similar position to mine (see picture 1), and most importantly check to see that the toe of your club is pointing straight up to the sky -- This Is Very Important! If your swing at this point is not the same or similar as to what I'm showing you in picture 1 then repeat your take-away until you get into or close to this position.
